Shopify Shipping Address Changes: When to Re-Screen an Order
Recheck recipients and country risk after an address change, update the warehouse handoff and preserve the original and revised screening decisions.

Re-screen a Shopify order when a shipping-address change alters the recipient, company, destination or other facts used in the original review. A prior clear result refers to the information checked at that time. Update the actual order, confirm the new screening uses the revised details, and verify the warehouse receives the same address before dispatch.
A customer may simply correct an apartment number. Another may replace the recipient with a company in a different country. Your review should identify which facts changed instead of treating all edits as equally significant.
Update the order record, not just the customer profile
Shopify allows staff with appropriate permissions to change an order's shipping details. Its guidance also distinguishes shipping-address changes from billing information that cannot be edited in the same way.
Use the shipping address on the actual order as your starting point. Do not assume that editing a customer's saved default address changes an existing order, shipping label or supplier dispatch record. Verify each system that will act on the shipment.
Capture the request through your approved support channel and assess whether the requester is authorized. A changed address can introduce fraud questions as well as sanctions and destination questions; one check does not resolve the others.
Identify what the change means for screening
Compare the previous and proposed information:
- Person: Is a different recipient now named?
- Company: Is a new business, branch or intermediary involved?
- Destination: Did the country or relevant region change?
- Route: Will a forwarder or supplier send the goods onward?
- Product use: Does the new information alter the expected end user or purpose?
MatchAudit re-screens relevant order changes to screened names, companies and addresses. Payment capture, fulfillment, notes and tags do not by themselves trigger a new screening. Verify the completed result in the app rather than assuming every edit causes a check.
An updated order can also require assessment outside the app: tax, product restrictions, shipping availability, export licensing and fraud controls. A successful name check does not settle those questions.
