Shopify Order on Hold: Troubleshoot a Sanctions Review and Release
Find why a Shopify fulfillment is on hold, distinguish a potential match from an incomplete check, and verify every hold before dispatching an allowed order.

A Shopify order on hold needs an identified reason and an authorized release—not an automatic conclusion that the customer is sanctioned. Open the affected fulfillment, check who placed each hold, and inspect the corresponding review case. If you have already allowed the order in MatchAudit, verify that its release completed and that no separate hold remains.

Find the actual fulfillment that is paused
Open the Shopify order and inspect its fulfillment details, including location and hold notes. Check each fulfillment when stock is split between warehouses or suppliers. The top-level order status is not a substitute for that inspection.
Shopify supports multiple holds and explains how split fulfillments affect the displayed order status. An order can still show Unfulfilled when one shipment is paused and another is not. Start with the shipment you intend to dispatch.
Record the hold owner: MatchAudit, Flow, another app, or staff. A release action from one owner does not establish that every other owner's condition has been satisfied.
Read the screening reason before choosing an action
MatchAudit uses different signals for different review states. The tags below help identify where to look; the current case and fulfillment state remain the evidence for the decision.

A country warning is different from a possible name match, and both differ from unavailable data. Do not clear one by resolving another. For example, proving that two people with similar names are different does not finish a missing country check.
